Deepika, one of Bollywood's leading ladies, has had an eventful year. Starting 2025 with two major pan-India films, she's now ending it with a different perspective. Her public fallout with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and subsequent exit from 'Spirit', followed by her removal from Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' sequel, have raised eyebrows.
In a recent interview, Deepika revealed that she's no longer drawn to films with budgets of ₹500-600 crore. She explained, "At this stage, it's not about the money or fame. It's about empowering talent and supporting creative minds."
When asked if she's already achieved all the success and fame one could desire, Deepika replied, "That doesn't excite me anymore. What's meaningful to me now is enabling storytelling and supporting others."
Deepika's exits from 'Spirit' and the 'Kalki' sequel have been shrouded in controversy. Earlier this year, reports suggested she was removed from 'Spirit' due to her request for an 8-hour work shift as a new mother. Triptii Dimri has since taken her place. In August, it was announced that Deepika wouldn't be part of the 'Kalki' sequel either.
Despite these setbacks, Deepika still has two big projects lined up. She's collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan in 'King', directed by Siddharth Anand, and will also star opposite Allu Arjun in Atlee's upcoming film.
